HORSE TRAINER’S CLAIM.
Says Bonus Was Due After Autopay’s Win. ?er Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 19. A civil claim involving the racehorse Autopay was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. Tom Pritchard, trainer, of Trentliam, sued Norman Aitken and Herbert F. Wood for £275 14s sd. Pritchard alleged that it was agreed between the defendants and. himeelf that he should train two horses owned by them, and that he should be paid £3 a week for each horse and 10 per cent of all stakes won by the horses In the event of Autopay winning thei Epsom race in Sydney on October 3, 1931, defendants were to pay him £l5O bonus. An account prerented with the statement of claim showed that £125 14s 5d was due to plaintiff from wages and commission on investments. Outopay won the Epsom, and plaintiff said that he was thereby entitled to £l5O, which had not been paid. The Magistrate (Mr E. Page) asked if a sporting settlement was not possible, and after an adjournment counsel announced that the parties had effected a settlement.
