Ideal weather prevailed for the resumption of the Plunket Shield match between the "Wellington and Otago cricket representatives at Carisbrook this morning. The wicket was in surprisingly good order considering the rain that had fallen on Saturday and, when play commenced, was drying. The outfield was on the slow side, but improved under the influence of the sun and a breeze. Otago, with nine wickets down for 341, resumed their innings, Dunning 26 and Clark 24 taking the strike to Parsloe and Blundell. Dunning began well bv hitting 11 off Parsloe’s first Over, although he nearly played on the. last ball. Facing Blundell. Dunning reached 40, driving him to the off boundary. The end came after ten minutes’ plav, Clark being clean bowled bv Blunders second ball in the next over. The innings closed for 357. The last wicket partnership produced 60 in 30 minutes. Early Chance Dropped. Wellington opened their innings at 11.20 a.m., Tindill and Dustin facing Dickinson ’ and Badcock. Both of the first overs were maidens. Austin was dropped by the wicketkeeper, Clark, off Dickinson. The scoring was very slow. Austin scored first, hooking Badcock to the boundary. Tindill took a brace and the batting then started to brighten. Tindill straight drove Dustin for 4, advancing the total to 20. Details of the play are as follows: — OTAGO.
