British Tributes to Belgian Monarch. (Received February 19, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, February 17. The news of the death of King Albert was conveyed to his Majesty at Buckingham Palace early this morning, and the King and Queen sent a private message to the Belgian Royal Family and a message on behalf of the British people was also prepared. His Majesty has ordered a fortnight’s Court mournSir John Simon called and sympathised with the Belgian Ambassador. Mr Lloyd George was one of the first to offer a tribute. He says: "1 saw much of King Albert :n wartime and at the Peace Conference. I was always impressed by his calmness and courage.” Field-Marshal Sir William Bird wood says: “We of the British Army looked upon King Albert as a manly, upright and grand soldier devoted to his people and his country, and prepared tc stand with his back to the wall to the last second. I am sure that every British soldier is deeply touched.” NEWS WITHHELD. King’s Daughter is Kept in Ignorance of Death. (Received February 19, 12.30 p.m.) NAPLES, February 18. Crown Prince Humbert is taking the precaution to break the news of her father’s death gently to his wife. Princess Marie Jose, who is expecting a baby. He has given instructions that no immediate announcement is to be made in Naples and no flags have yet been half-masted. A message from Rome says that his Majesty and the Royal Family have cancelled all engagements and the Royal train has been ordered to be ready to go to Brussels. Doumergue, Herriot and Tardieu are going to Brussels to-morrow and will return the same night. President Lebrun, Marshal Petain and M. Barthou will attend the funeral.
