Report Concerning Tramway Appeals. Advice has been received by the general manager of the Christchurch Tramways Board (Mr F. Thompson) that two of the appeals against the recent staff changes among the employees have been withdrawn. It is also understood that four other appellants have also withdrawn, making the total withdrawals six. The reason for the withdrawals is said to be that the men concerned have found that their new positions on the latest grading list are apparently better than they had at first anticipated. The men lodging the appeals are those who remained loyal to the old board during the tramway strike, or who joined the board’s service during the strike. Most of them were disrated from positions as motormen to conductors, with consequent loss of seniority and pay.
