STAVISKY’S METHODS.
Squandered Money Freely; £12,000 for Horses. PARIS, February 6. A vivid picture of the manner in which the swindler, Staviskv, squandered fabulous sums belonging to his victims was given to-day during the inquiry-. Evidence was given that Stavisky on one day bought forty-two racehorses from the famous stables of Baron Rothschild, paying 1,500,000 francs (£12,000). He spent the same amount to finance a spectacular operetta at a Paris theatre. A further production cost nearly £6OOO.
