At that time I had practically no debts. I was employed by the Greymouth Harboui Board for a period of about 18 months from September, 1931, to April, 1933 From April, 1933, until January 20, 1934 I was on the unemployment relief. Ii January of this year I secured a tern porary position for three months witt the Greymouth Harbour Board. My wife was ill for six months, from November, 1931, to May, 1932, and i was necessary to employ and pay tw girls to assist in carrying on the board ing-house. During that period, because of this extra expense and a high rent which was later reduced, the debts now owing by me were incurred. I have family of six children, of whom the eldest is eight years and the youngest eleven months. Since I have com menced work for the Harbour Board my wife and I have received frequent an urgent requests for payment from some of my creditors. In view of the temporary nature of my employment, my large family dependent solely- on me, and the worry occasioned by the pres sure being brought to bear by certain creditors, I am reluctantly compelled t file my petition. My failure has been due to long periods of unemployment, my wife’s illness, and the high rent originally payable for the premises occupied by me as a boarding-house. I have handed all my assets to the Deputy-Official Assignee. 1 have no prospects, and regret that under the present circumstances I can make no offer to my creditors.” Mines. The Liverpool and James mines will both be working on Monday next. Rental Clinic. The Camerons School is the latest to join up with the Greymouth Dental Clinic scheme.
