TO CLEAN IVORY.
Beadß and pendants of carved ivory need frequent cleaning if they are in constant use. To remove the dirt which collects in the small crevices, a soft toothbrush and a good dental-plate pow - der mixed to a paste with warm water should be used. This treatment cleans and polishes the ivory without scratching it, and also helps to keep it a good colour. Carved ivory boxes and ornaments may be satisfactorily cleaned in the same way. Knife handles which have become discoloured should be rubbed with half a lemon dipped in salt. Furniture cream is effective for clean ug ivory -backed brushes and other dressingtable accessories. For piano keys methylated spirit is the best cleanser.
