BAD GRAMMAR BOGEY.

Yet Another Strange Visitor to Starland. * Many strange and weird visitors pop in to see us at times, some wanted, others distinctly not wanted. The latest of these is the Bad Grammar Bogey, who tells me he knows crowds of our Starlets; in fact, he often spends holidays with them and when he leaves, leaves also some of his wrong ways. “ Ho, yus! ” he said to us, “ I’ve come tolearn you people something.” ‘ Learn us, indeed,” said Pollyanna and I together. “You mean teach us, not learti us. You teach and we learn. “ Have it yer own way,” he said crossly. “ Thanks for the lend of the book.” Again Pollyanna looked at me, but Mr Joke-Box said, “We gave you the loan of a book, not the lend.” Oh, dear! He did look cross and upset, and as he disappeared through the window, we saw him hasten to a New Brighton tram that was pulling out with a load of seaside travellers. The park is another favourite haunt of his, for when small people are happily playing they forget and the Bad Grammar Bogey pops in and takes a hand. Weil teach him, Starlets, to ask for the loan of things. He cannot learn us to ask for a lend. Will you remember, please?—A.H. A LETTER IN ESPERANTO. Last Saturday Aunt Hilda showed a group of interested people over the “ Star ” office, and three little girls, who have studied Esperanto very successfully have written their thanks in Esperanto. Can any Starlet translate it? A GOOD SUGGESTION. Ray Baker sends us a cute idea though the drawing was hardly up to printing standard. It js a picture of a sheep standing in a field with two lighted crackers under it. It is called “ The quickest way to make wool rise.” But no Starlet must attempt to carry it out.
