The question of building a cross Hack behind the caretaker's shop at Corsair Bay was before the Lyttelton Borough Council some time ago but the work has not yet been carried out. At Monday night’s meeting of the council the question was again raised and a promise was given that the work would be put in hand immediately. The derivation of the term “ troy weight” is uncertain. It is supposed to have reference to the monkish name given to London, of Troy—iNovant, It was in 1828 that a standard trov pound in brass brought from England was declared by Act of Congress the legal standard of the United States Mint.
