The castaways from the Soviet Cheliuskin, which sank after being crushed in the ice, including women and children, being within the Arctic Circle, are practically in darkness. Captain Schmidt has wirelessed that all are hopeful. He believed that their provisions would prove adequate for their immediate needs.
