PIGEON FANCY.
Junior Table Show is Staged. The United Pigeon Fanciers* Club held its fortnightly meeting on Wednesday evening, Mr W. Whitesides presiding. The South Island Poultry Association notified an alteration in the date of the social to Mr G. E. Jeffreys and asking for two representatives to attend on behalf of the club. The president (Mr T. W. Richmond) and Mr B. Johnson were appointed. The secretary reported that the first open table show would be held on February 28. The first of the season’s table shows was held during the meeting, open to junior members only. The results of the show were as follows: Self-tumbler, clean-legged, longfaced, any colour—Foster Bull 1 and 2 (Blacks). Any other variety tumbler— Clough more Loft’s Red Whiteside 1 and 2, Bald head 3. Any other variety fancypigeon—Cloughmore Loft’s African Owl 1 and Dun Jacobin 3, P. Wilson’s Black Magpie 2. The schedule for the remainder of the season is for open classes, senior or junior, as follows: February 28—Black, clean-legged. long-faced Tumbler; White, clean-legged, long-faced Tumbler; Baldhead, black; BaUlhead, any other colour. March 14—Red. clean-legged, long-faced Tumbler; Yellow, cleanlegged, long-faced Tumbler; broken colour or broken feather Tumbler; barred or chequered Tumbler; Nuns. March 28 Magpie, black; magpie, any other colour; fantail, any colour; pouting breeds; Jacobin, any colour. April 11—Oriental frills; owls, any variety; Muff Tumbler; Modernas. any variety: any other variety fancy pigeon. April 25—First and second prize birds, homer cocks, hom.er hens. The W. R. Coles Challenge Cup will be competed for at all the above shows.
