NEW BRIGHTON BAND
A pleasant function was held at the New Brighton Municipal Band room recently, when the patron, Captain A. W. Owles, presented'an enlarged photograph of himself. Those present were the president (the Mayor. Mr E. A. M. Leaver). Councillors La wry, Ainsworth, Osborne, Wilkins. Holloway, HunVO, Thompson and Worrall. Following the toast of “The King” Conductor J. A. Nuttall proposed the toast of the Mayor and Councillors. In his remarks he made special comment on the splendid work done by the councillors in giving assistance to the band generally. Owles said that the welfare of’the hand had been his first consideration since its formation. He had watched its ups and downs, and it was a credit to the conductor and members to see what a splendid combination it was at the present time. He hoped that he would be spared a few more years to see the hand make still further improvement. (Applause.)
