Ex-service Men Receive Assistance. A meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Centre of the Xcw Zealand Red Cross Society was held on Tuesday: present—Mr C. J. Ronaldson (chairman), Rady Wigram, Mesdames 11. H. Smith and J. Stevenson. Miss Guthrie, Messrs C. J. It. Williams, J. G. L.. Ver--11.011. H. Xi. Bovvker, C. Buchanan and A. Ij. Pratt. The Womens Executive reported that the garden party would be held at I>ady Wig-ram’s residence. No. 1, Park Terrace, on Saturday. March 3, and the society would participate in a street appeal to be made on a date in May. The financial statement and reports showed that during the months of December and January ex-service patients hart received attention at the Middle Sanatorium, Cashmere Hills, the Coronation Hospital, Queen Mary Hospital, Hanmer Springs. Ashburton Hospital and Old Men's Home. Timaru Hospital. Westland Mental Hospital, Waimate Hospital, Rannerdale Horae, Mental Hospital (Christchurch), Christchurch Hospital, and as out-patients. Clothing. tobacco. hospital requisites, extra food, motor transport, grants to various matrons for miscellaneous purchases. furnishings, cards, newspapers, books and magazines were supplied and amusements arranged for. Major Barnes’s report showed that he had visited blind soldiers, also ex-service men in the Sunnyside Mental Hospital weekly, and that cigarettes, tobacco and fruit had been supplied.
