Conclusion of Conference at Hanmer. Per Press Association. HANMER SPRINGS, February 16. At the annual meeting of the United Press Association the report and bal-ance-sheet were adopted. Messrs Stanley Smith and W. Easton, retiring directors, were re-elected unopposed. Mr O. G. Tember was reappointed auditor. A motion of condolence with the families and relatives of the late Messrs M’Nicol, Shand, Atkin and Reeves was carried, members standing. Votes of thanks were passed to the chairman (Mr A. M. Burns) and the staff for their work during the year. It was decided that the annual meeting next year be held at Rotorua. The chairman announced that the board had decided to send the manager (Mr A. B. Lane) to Sydney and Melbourne to inspect and report on the Sydney branch and the Australian service generally. At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr C. Stanley Smith (Dunedin) was appointed chairman. The board extended its congratulations to Mr Louis Blundell on the completion of forty years’ service as a director and passed a vote of thanks to the retiring chairman for the energetic manner in which he had attended to the interests of the association during his year of office. The weather is beautifully fine. Most of the delegates are leaving for their homes this afternoon. (The chairman’s address is re* ported on page 4.)
