Oil is a sticky liquid which moves much slower than water. It is also lighter than water. A coating of oil on the top of water prevents violent movement of the water beneath. A cat has an acute balancing sense and very flexible muscles. Instinct teaches it to twist itself so that its feet will reach the ground before its body, consequently it always falls on its feet.
