WEDDINGS.

Recent Ceremonies in City. LOADER—M’LENNAN. The wedding took place on Monday at the Roman Catholic Cathedral, Barbadoes Street, of Una Gwendoline, third daughter of Mr and Mrs W. M’Lennan, St Martins Road, and Lancelot William, elder son of Mr and Mrs W. J. Loader, Spreydon. The Rev Father O’Meeghan officiated and Nuptial Mass .was celebrated. Miss O'Connor was the organist. Bella Donna lilies and gladioli decorated the church and made a pretty background for the bridal party. The bride had chosen for her wedding frock soft ivory satin which moulded her figure to the knees and dipped into a slight train at the back. The round neck was outlined with seed pearls and the quaint sleeves designed with cowl effect from shoulders to the elbows then fitted tightly to the wrists. From a lace Juliet cap outlined with tiny orange blossom buds, fell her filmy veil, which was embroidered in true-lovers’ knots. She held an arm bouquet of cream and white begonias with touches of pale pink carnations falling into a long trail at one side. Miss Edna Loader (sister of the bridegroom), the only bridesmaid, wore a dainty frock of apricot metalasse. An uncommon feature was introduced in the cowl sleeves where folds of jade green appeared to match her pretty hat. A large bow of tw’o-toned material was placed at the waistline of the frock and three hand-made shaded green roses were arranged diagonally across the corsage. A jewelled green butterfly fastened the opening at the back of the neckline. Her arm bouquet of apricot roses and gladioli finished in a long trail. Mr F. E. Blackman was best man and Mr M’Lennan gave his daughter away.

After the ceremony a reception was held in Ballantyne’s private reception room where the bride’s mother received the guests. Her frock of black silk marocain was inset with godets of black and white to match her black hat which was banded with white and caught with a metallic ornament. She carried a bouquet of crimson roses. The bridegroom’s mother was in burgundy crinkle crepe with insets of wool lace and a smart hat of mastic coloured straw. Wine shaded carnations and roses formed her bouquet. For travelling the bride had chosen a smart tailored worsted suit with a pin-stripe, a black diagonal cloth coat trimmed with a long roll collar ot skunk fur, and an attractive little black felt hat.

ARNOLD—ELLIS. Beautifully decorated with hydrangeas, English honeysuckle and sweet peas, bv the friends of the bride, St Paul’s Methodist Church, Sumner, was recently the scene of the wedding of Lilian, second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Ellis, of Heathcote, and Edward William, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Arnold, of Invercargill. The Rev R. E. Patchett was the officiating clergyman and the wedding music was played by Mrs H. W. Heslop. Mr Charles Murray Arnold, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a becoming frock of white angel-skin lace, cut on slim-fit-ting lines, and falling in graceful folds to the ground. The sleeves, fully gathered at the top, were contrasted by tightly fitting cuffs to the elbows, and finished with points over the wrists. A dainty ruching of tulle and a spray of orange blossom worn over the lsft shoulder, was an unusually attractive feature of her ensemble. Her filmy veil, faintly pink, was held in place by a strand of orange blossom buds. She carried a shower bouquet of pale pink carnations, begonias, and maiden hair fern. Miss Dorothy Ellis attended her sister as bridesmaid. Her taffetas frock was of lime green, black and white fitted tightly to the knees, then flaring fully to the ground. The wide circular sleeves and the round frilled collar, demurely finished with a black velvet bow, added a novel touch. She wore a small black velvet hat, tipped forward and an eye veil. Her arm bouquet was of lime yellow gladioli. The wedding breakfast was held at the Cadena tea-rooms, Sumner, where the bride’s mother received the guests, wearing a black lace dress with graceful bishop sleeves. It was relieved at the neck with jade georgette, the colour of which was repeated in her wide brimmed hat. Her bouquet was of gold charm dahlias and begonias. The bridegroom’s mother wore a frock of wine crinkle crepe, which had a yoke of biscuit beige, appliqued with wine coloured flowers. Her smart hat of biscuit beige straw was simply trimmed with wine ribbon. She carried a bouquet of wine and buff dahlias and roses.

For going away, the bride had chosen an ensemble of ocean-blue satin-backed marocain. Her hat was a patterned material to match the top of the dress and the coat, in swagger style had a scarf collar.
