Unanimous support was given to a motion proposed at a general meeting of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers’ Association last evening, in which regret was expressed at the action of the Government in allocating profits from art unions' to sports bodies when necessitous cases among returned soldiers demanded attention. Several of the members said they would like the motion to be couched in much stronger terms. Several educational films were pre. sented to scholars of the Riccarton School on Wednesday afternoon and evening by Mr J. J. S. Cornes, 8.A., B.Sc., who was formerly lecturer at the Christchurch Teachers’ Training College. The films were screened at the Riccarton Oddfellows’ Hall, and were greatly enjoyed by a large attendance of children. The pictures are recommanded by the Canterbury School Committees’ Association.
