AEROPLANE SHIPPED.

Ellsworth's Machine Sent to Los Angeles. Per Prpps Association. DUNEDIN, February 4. The aeroplane belonging to Mr Lincoln Ellsworth’s expedition, which was damaged at the ice barrier, was placed on board the Norwegian tanker South Africa at Dunedin this afternoon for transport to Los Angeles. The South Africa is expected to arrive at Los Angeles on March 20 and the aeroplane will thus be placed in the repair factory six days earlier than was expected. It was originallv intended to ship the damaged machine by the liner Monterey, which leaves Auckland on March 10 and is due at Los Angeles on March 26. Mr Bernt Balchen, the air pilot who accompanied Mr Ellsworth on his recent expedition to the Antarctic, and the mechanic (Mr C. Baarthen), are travelling to Los Angeles by the South Africa. The aeroplane will be some time on the water, as the tanker, which left Dunedin this evening, will call at Sydney and Newcastle before proceeding to Los Angeles.
