WARNINGS NO GOOD.

Boy Committed to the Care of the State. “ Warnings do not appear to have done you any good,” said Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Children’s Court this morning to a boy charged with breaking into a house and stealing money and a broach. The boy was committed to the care of the State, with a recommendation that he be sent to the Waikeria Training Farm. Mr Jones, cf the Child Welfare Department, said that the boy did not seem to be able to help it. The boy was not under strict control, and on New Year’s Eve had come home at 2.15 a.m. It was thought that he had been engaged in removing gates from suburban houses. The Magistrate said he did not take a very serious view of the gate removing. It was a seasonal occurrence. Those who indulged in the practice knew what to expect if they were caught. “It is pretty mean when you steal from your own mother,” said the Magistrate, after reading the reports. “What did you do with the money?” The boy said he bought cigarettes and other things. But you know .there is not too much money at home?—Yes. “ The only thing left is to send you to the Waikeria Training Farm. It depends cn your own efforts to make good. You will have to knuckle down to discipline and won’t be allowed to please yourself as you have been doing.”
