RADIO IN SCHOOL.
North Linwood Installation Finished.
When pupils at the North Linwood School return next Tuesday after their midsummer holidays, they will find the school equipped with a modern radio installation, enabling every broadcast lesson to be heard, and physical drill carried out to the strains of music broadcast in the playground from an electric gramophone which is built into the radio apparatus. A credit balance left over from the anniversary celebrations has been used to purchase the equipment, which was built by Radio Hall,* of Manchester Street. The set is capable of receiving the local stations and 2YA in daylight and contains six -valves, the last pair giving an undistorted output of twelve watts. The set has been placed in the office of the head-master. Provision is made for seven loudspeakers in the classrooms, and the set will operate these together or independently. It will thus be possible to switch off in some classrooms without interfering with others. At present only one speaker is provided, but others will be secured when funds are available.
