In the Davis Cup European zone the first round draw is as follows: Czechoslovakia, New Zealand and Italy byes. Switzerland v. India. France v. Austria. , Germany, Australia and Japan byes. The draw for the North American zone is as follows: United States v. Canada. Mexico a bye. The South American zone draw is as follows: Brazil v. Peru.
