LONDON FUNDS.

Amount Not Excessive, Says Minister. EXPORT FIGURES QUOTED. (Special to the ** Star.**> WELLINGTON, February 3. The Hon A. Hamilton, Minister in charge of the Government Statistician’s Department, quoted at Takaka the official details of New Zealand’s overseas trade for the year ended December 31, 1933, showing an excess value of exports over imports of £15,425,000 on the basis of New Zealand currency, while the excess on a sterling basis is £12,340,000. The Minister declared that as the Dominion’s overseas interest and other liabilities were approximately ten millions sterling annually, the present accumulation of London funds was not excessive, for on the basis of export trade it was a surplus of about two and a quarter million, not five million as the exchange critics suggested.
