Dunedin Cup Horses in Action. Candidates for Dunedin supplied the interest at Riccarton this morning, but only a few of them were really asked to go at their top. The No. 6 grass was available. Apart from a fairly strong east wind, which was chilly early, conditions were good. St Joan ran three furlongs in 38 l-ssec. Guarantee took only 36 3-ssec in a similar sprint. King March, with a big weight up, ran half a mile in 50 l-ssec. Cricket Bat did an easy half mile on the plough. Wild Sky and High Rank were together at the end of seven furlongs, run in lmin 28 l-ssec. Cleaner and Red Dance ran six furlongs in lmin 18 FSsec. Silver Ring was under a strong pull in the early stages of a six-furlong trip. He ran his last three in 3Ssec. Great Star went five furlongs nicely in lmin 3 2-ssec. Grand Review covered seven furlongs in lmin 32 2-ssec, the last three furlongs in 39 l-ssec. Trumpet Blast and Tunneller got over half a mile in 50sec. After breakfast, Dotran and Rational 11. ran six furlongs in lmin 19 2-ssec. Cranford sprinted half a mile in 50 3-ssec. Gaysome easily ran five furlongs in lmin 3 4-ssec. Easy work on the plough was allotted Done Jose and Fleeting Glance. Sweet Agnes fared similarly. Croupier went seven furlongs comfortably in lmin 31sec, the last six, with Marcus Cicero joining in. in lmin 16sec. Vintage went a mile and a quarter in 2min 7 4-ssec. Concentrate joined in for. the last mile, which was done in lmin 42 l-ssec. Vintage, who was slightly in front at the end, went well throughout. Some Shamble also went a mile and a quarter. Silver Sight accompanied him for the first mile and Niggerhead joined in for the last six furlongs. The full journey was run in 2min lOsec, the last mile in lmin 44sec. Davolo and Friday Night ran half a mile in 50 3-ssec. Cup Bearer and Bell Hill got over five furlongs in lmin 4 l-sscc.
