ADDINGTON YARDS.

Considerable Easing in Fat Lambs. FIRM STORE SHEEP SALE. There was a decided rasing: m fat lamb values at the Addington stock sale to-day. compared w r ith the double market a fortnight ago. Beef was *n oversupply, and values declined by from 10s to 15s a head over the early part of the sale. The store sheep market was very firm for all classes, though values did not rise to any extent. Pst Lambs. There was about the fat lamb sale none of the keenness which had L-een in evidence at the double market a fortnight previously. Butchers competed fairly keenly at the outset, but their buying powers dwindled ns their orders were filled. The sale, which had opened with butchers predominating at up to 7id per lb, weakened to 7d for best quality, and down to 6id for secondary sorts. One freezing works representative then more or less led the buying on a schedule basis of up to 7d. The quality of the yarding was only fair, with many lines of medium stuff. Values per lb ranged from 61d to 7Jd, with an average of from 6Jd to 7 cl. The entry was of 1500 head, compared with 1900 at the double market. I Values were: Extra prime heavy lambs, to 21s 7d. There was a moderate entry of store sheep, comprising mostly dry ewes and lambs. With the recent rains and the j improvement in fee«i prospects, farmers showed much more interest in the I market and the -sale throughout was a. very keen one for all classes of sheep. Except in the case of some of the i older ewes, there was no great ap- > predation in values when compared with those that ruled at the sale a fortnight ago. The market, however, was extremely firm. Lambs again sold well, and in some of the prices paid it was hard to see much margin. Twotooth ewes were wanted and sold well. Values were:— Good two-tooth Romney ewes, 22s 3d to 24 s. Medium two-tooth three-quarter-bred ewes, 19s lOd to 21s 3d. Medium two-tooth half-bred ewes, 21» to 22s 6d. Good four-tooth half-bred ewes, fo 245. Sound and failing-mouth ewes, 11s 3d to 14s 4d. The entry of fat sheep was a small one, and it was very mixed in quality. Over the first half of the sale values were much the same as those that ruled a fortnight ago. Fat Cattle. With an entry of approximately 450 head of fat cattle the market was oversupplied and the demand was restricted, with values considerably below those ruling at the last market in 1933. The average quality was not good and inferior cow beef was neglected. The outstanding sale early in the market was that on account of W. Gray (Loudon’s Estate, Teddington),—l6 eteers from £8 17s 6d to £lO 17s 6d, an average of £lO.
