Fierce Christmas Clash in Ireland. POLICE BEATEN WITH STICKS. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received December 27, 10 a.m.) DUBLIN, December 26. Christmas was celebrated at Clonakilty by a fierce street fight between Republicans and triumphant supporters of General O’Duffy and Captain Sullivan. Street lights were smashed, and after that the battle raged by bonfire light. The police, in endeavouring to separate the rival factions, were beaten with sticks.
