The Christchurch Working Men’s Club is the only organisation of its kind which provides an annual picnic for its members. Everything is provided free of charge for members and their wives and families, including transport from the city, lunch and afternoon tea. In addition, all children under the age of thirteen years are presented with a toy. Every year about 1500 people take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy an outing amidst the pleasant surroundings of the Riccarton Racecourse. DAILY NEEDS AT HOME.
