“THE MESSIAH.”
An exceptional performance of Handel’s immortal oratorio will be given by the Royal Christchurch Musical Society in the Durham Street Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 20. The soloists engaged are: Soprano, Miss Hilda Hutt and Master Warwick Humphreys, the latter is only eight years of age and has a charming voice; Mrs Tristram Willcox, contralto, who has a reputation as soloist on the wireless; Mr W. H. Dixon, who has consented to sing the tenor solos, and Mr Charles Clarkson, who will take the bass solos. This will be Mr Clarkson’s first appearance in Christchurch since his return to the city after an absence of some years. The full cfcorus of the society will give the choral numbers, Mr Melville Lawry accompanying on the organ, and the whole will be conducted by Mr W. H. Dixon, L.R.A.M., A*R.C-M.
