Let Them R.I.P.
Dear Sir, —The different suggestions that are being offered to the new Tramway Board are not only amusing but ridiculous. Many people have been gulled by the wonderful statements that when Labour assumes control revenue will increase and everything in the garden will be lovely. Let them keep on thinking in that way and perhaps the shock of not seeing all their fond imaginings put into practice will be softened by the passing of time. Those who follow the Labour banner alway’s have the habit of believing that their party can do the impossible, but their idea is to try and do it on the money’ of someone else. It does not necessarily follow that I am in favour of the old board or their out-of-date policy, but at the same time the reading of correspondence that recks of the impossible makes me turn pale (a chance for someone) but probably not half as pale as some of the new board members when they read what is expected of them; in fact, I would presume that most of them will be busily engaged working out their defence against all the irate people there will be when they have to turn round and say that this and that is not possible ”at the moment.”—l am, etc.. CUT IT OUT.
