What was regarded by the Council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce as a high compliment was received at its meeting last evening in the form of a request from Mr V. T. Harlow, the Keeper of the Rhodes House Library, Oxford, England, for a complete set of the economic bulletins issued by the chamber. Mr W. Machin. chairman of the Economics Committee, said that body was extremely gratified at the request and would do its best to supply a set of the bulletins from No. 1 to No. 107. In his letter Mr Harlow stated that the library was erected some five years ago by the Rhodes trustees with a view to creating what would eventually be the most complete collection of books and docum£n>*ry materia! on the history of all parts of the British Empire. In extending the season’s greetings to members of the council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce at its final meeting for the year last evening, the president of the chamber (Mr A. F. Wright) remarked that they had passed through a trying but important year. “ Let us hope," he added, " that the new year will be brighter, and that we will not be faced with the same difficulties that we have met with during the present year, and that the improvement that has been so manifest in the past few months will continue during 1934.” The sentiments expressed by the president were echoed by the members present.
