FIRE IN CLINIC.
Helper Severely Burned About the Arms. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, December 7. There was some excitement at the Marton dental clinic this afternoon, when a bucket containing benzine, in which .\ urse Cochran was attending to the cleaning of stockings, was ignited by a gas jet which was burning a few leet away. The nurse rushed for assistance, and a man who was passing tried to smother the flames with a mat, which also became ignited. Another passerby, Mr N. Meredith, took off his coat, which he pushed into the bucket. Both of his arms were immersed in the burning benzine, and he suffered severe burns extending to the elbows. After being attended to by a doctor the injured man was conveyed by ambulance to the Wanganui Hospital. The fire was extinguished without much damage being done.
