SECRET FAST BOWLER.
Jack Nye Will Provide Sensations. LONDON, December 1 Sussex’s secret fast bowler, mentioned by Sir William Campion, former Governor of West Australia, is revealed as Jack Nye, who has lived in Australia. According to the “ Daily Mail ”, Nye is nineteen years of age, and is at present working pn a farm. He is Gft 2in in height, and is broader shouldered than Larwood. He says that when he was twelve he went to Australia and lived on the Vic-torian-New South Wales border, whore he worked on sheep and cattle farms. Nye began playing cricket in 1930, using sticks for stumps and wooden bats. He came to England in May and joined Haywards Heath Club. He bowled so fast that he was always hurting somebody. Sometimes he broke the bails and cracked the stumps, and consequently got little chance. “ Sussex taught me a new action,” he says. “I do not try to bowl fast; it just happens.”
Mr Knowles, the Sussex secretary, says that if he can teach Nye perfect ball control he will be a sensation.
The “ Evening News ” declares that he will be “ as good as Larwood ”.
