Successful Concert by St Joseph’s Pupils.

I The hall at the Marist Brothers' club ! rooms was prettily decorated last evening. when the pupils of St Joseph’s i School, which is conducted by the Sis- | ters of the Notre Dame Mission, held a j concert to raise funds for the mission. The liall was crowded, and the young artists, who showed evidence of having been well trained, were encored many times. Owing to the number of items on the programme, however, they could not often respond. The frocking and general stage deportment were especially pleasing features, and reflected much credit on the Sisters. The stage manager was Mr P. O'Connell. The following was the programme:— Pianoforte trio. "In Merry Society,” Misses R. Finnerty. M. O’Connell and P. Donnelly: chorus. ” Smiling Faces,” senior pupils: recitation. “An Eastern Legend,” Joan Hobday: action song. “Dainty Domestics”: dialogue, "Red Riding Hood. ’ Misses C Buyliss and M. M'Aleer: Irish jig, Pat Walklin; action song, junior pupils: folk dance, "Old Mole,” senior pupils; violin solo. "Mote Perpetuo.” Master IS. Keatns: recitation | " Why Not Do It. Sir. To-day?”. Mary Lockhart: chorus, " God Bless New Zealand,” senior pupils: two-act play. "The Battle of the Books,” elocution class, action song, “The Dolls,” junior pupils; recitation, “ The Ringer of the Chimes,” Ruth Finnertv: violin solo. Marie O’Neil; dialogue. ’’George Washington.” Misses J- Ryan. M. Mustchin, M. Ball and R. Furlong: folk-dance, "Oranges* and Lemons.*’ senior pupils; violin duet. “Gavotte.” Miss M. O’Neil and Master B. Kearns; tap dance, Pat Walklin: Christmas tableau, senior pupils.
