An instance of inconvenience having been caused as a result of delay in the delivery of a telegram despatched on a Saturday night, was brought to the notice of the Council of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce last evening by Mr Herbert Gresson. He suggested that the chamber should approach the Telegraph Department with a request that a man should be kept on duty until midnight on Saturdays for the purpose of communicating telegrams which could not be delivered earlier owing to the persons to whom they were addressed being absent from their homes for part of the evening. The letter was referred to the Postal Committee.
