BRAHMS’S “REQUIEM.”
Brahms'* •’Requiem,” one of the very finest of the sacred musical compositions, was given a beautiful rendition last night at the Anglican Cathedral. Under the control of Dr Bradshaw, the ‘•hoir gave a consummate performance, and the solo parts were ably and appreciatively sung. Brahms was too much of a master to dress his theme merely with volume and technical brilliance. The score radiates the inspiration of the beautiful words, and, properly rendered, communicates a great message to the listeners. No possible fault could be found last night from a purely critical point of view, and the perfect blending of the choir with the masterly organ accompaniment gave the large attendance a rare musical treat.
