ARTISTS ENTERTAINED

Artists and auxiliary workers who have played a part in the activities of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers Asthe guests of the Social Committee of the association at a smoke concert held in the Jellicoe Hall last evening. The president of the association, the Rev F. T. Read, in proposing the toast of “ The Artists." stated that the association was fortunate in having men on whom it could call at all times to provide entertainment of the very first order at any and all of its various functions. All members of the association fully appreciated the fine service rendered by these men and wished them all success in the future In responding, Mr R. Stevens said that: the cordial reception which all artists received from the Returned Soldiers’ Association helped them to give )f their best, and fully compensated them for any effort that they made to help along the work of an association that, was fulfilling an excellent and praiseworthy social service. Other toasts honoured were as fol'ows: “The Executive," proposed bv Mr L. Cummins and responded to by Mr A. H. Parfltt; “The Social Committee.” proposed by Mr W. E. Leadley .ml responded to by Mr C.
