Business livened up perceptibly yesterday afternoon and at the last call an unusually big list of sales was recorded. A fresh lot was added at the first call this morning and altogether the turnover over the last 24 hours must have been heavy. Business covered a wide area, with Government stocks getting a fair share of the business. South British Insurance touched a new high level this morning, with a sale at £3 17s 3d. but a subsequent transaction was threepence lower. There was a healthy tone manifest in the latest bidding, with most sections strong at late valuations. FIRM SYDNEY MARKET. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, December 7. At the wool sale? to-day 10,093 bales were offered and 9192 sold, and 1482 were sold privately. There was good general competition and the market closed firm, at equal to the highest point of the week for all types. Greasy merino fleece sold to 32id for five bales from Yass.
