TRAIN DERAILED.
Railway Line Blocked Near Ohura. Per Press Association. TAUMARUNUI, December 7. A special goods train which left Taumarunui at 2 o’clock this morning for Stratford, was derailed at Mangapara, the first station past Ohura through the breaking of an axle in a truck full of manure The train ran for a mile, damaging the ballast, before the break was noticed, and when it struck the points near the Mangapara Station a wheel collapsed and the truck went off the line, dragging seven other trucks of manure and coal and the guard’s van with it. The trucks did not capsize, and were practically undamaged. Hundreds of sleepers however, were broken and the fishplates were damaged. A breakdown train from Ohakune was on the scene quickly, and it was expected that the line would be clear for the express tonight.
