Canterbury College Student Selected. MR lAN F. G. MILNER. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 6The following New Zealand Rhodes scholars have been selected for 1934: — Mr Norman Davis, Otago. Mr lan Frank George Milner, Canterbury. Mr M. M. Cooper, Massey College. Mr Milner was born in 1911 and received his education at Waitaki Boys’ High School from 1919 to 1929. lie was awarded Junior and Senior National r Scholarships. In his final year he was ; dux of the school and gained a University Entrance Scholarship. Entering Canterbury College in 1930 he has eacli year taken a section of the B A. degree, completing last year. In 1932, his final year, he was awarded the New Zealand University Senior Scholarship in English. lie is this year studying for the degree of Master of Arts, with honours in the English Language and Literature At Waitaki he was a school cricket representative for three years, being captain in the last two years; and was in 1929 vice-captain of the school foot- ! ball fifteen. For two years he represent- : ed the school in shooting and he was | . swimming champion and mile walk champion. He was prominent in debating. being leader of the school team in 1929. He was a school prefect in 1928 and head prefect in 1929, and for three years was editor of the school magazine. At Canterbury College he has been prominent in debating, in 1930 gaining the impromptu and prepared speech prizes, and in 1932 and this year he has led the Canterbury College team in the Joynt Scroll debate.
