The tone of the stock market continues healthy, and a good list of sales has been put through during the past twenty-four hours. Values generally have been well maintained, and the business has covered a fairly wide range. At this morning’s call insurances were in special favour. South British had another sale at £3 17s. Gas shares were firm, and at 17s 6d Auckland contributing had the best sale for some time. In the mining section. Waihis were steady, with buyers offering £l 6s 9d and holders asking 275. Government stocks were in steady demand at late rates. The noon call was quieter, but South British Insurance maintained the higher level and were still in good deLATE SALES YESTERDAY.
