Samples of luminous house numbers were on view at the meeting of the City Council last evening. The Finance Committee reported that it could not see its way to purchase a supply of these numbers for retailing, but. as far as it could judge, they seemed to be satisfactory and would apparently be of assistance at night. The subject of the provision of two smaller weirs in the Avon again engaged the attention of the Christchurch Beautifying Association last evening and the chairman, Mr R. B. Owen, and Mr E. Egglestone were delegated to meet the representatives of the Drainage Board to discuss the whole matter.
