FRENCH POLITICS.
National Government Suggested. United Press Assn.— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, December 4. A general election or a National Government of the British type seem to be the alternatives in escaping the existing impasse. The chances of survival of the new Premier, M. Camille Chautemps, are regarded as dim, and the electors are becoming impatient of the spectacle of successive Governments overthrown while the deficit is ever mounting. The first instalment of the financial proposals of M. Chautemps involve £48,172,000. including economies totalling £16,180,000, fiscal control £7,912,000, fiscal changes £11,856,000 and exceptional income £12,208,000. The last items includes receipts from the Government lottery' and the profit on minting silver and nickel. Temporary' reductions of civil servants’ salaries are again included, though the saving is reduced to £220,000.
