Mrs M. C. Pitt, Christchurch, left for j Blenheim yesterday morning. Miss Mavis Smith, Prebbleton, is j spending a holiday in Dunedin. Mrs Noel Newton, Christchurch, is! staying with her mother, Mrs James j Meehan, Timaru. Mrs H. Quane, formerly of Christchurch, will arrive in Auckland by the Tainui on Monday. Mrs Fleet Burry, Riccarton, who has been spending a holiday in Oamaru and Waimate, has returned home. Mrs E. T. Reece, Fendalton, left last evening to spend a few days in V ellington. Mrs M’Yeagh, Dunedin, with her daughter, is visiting her son-in-law, Dr J. 11. Fahey, Bishop Street. Mrs George Broughton, Invercargill, is visiting her mother, Mrs W. Leversedge, Idris Road, Fendalton. Captain and Mrs Hamilton Price and family, Knowles Street, will leave for England by the Tainui early in March Mrs G. Miller, Christchurch, who has been the guest of Mrs A. Davidson, Wairau Valiev, has returned home. Mrs Alfred Evans, Aikman’s Road, will return home this week after staying with Colonel and Mrs E. B. Millton, Birch Hill. Mrs P. 11. Vickery, with her son, Mr 11. E. Vickery, as pilot, arrived from Invercargill yesterday afternoon by aeroplane. Mrs Charles Ogilvie, “ Airlie,” Cashmere Hills, will return home to-morrow from a holiday spent at Hanmer Springs. Miss Edith Westall, who recently arrived in New Zealand from England, is staying with her sister, Miss Mabel Westall, Dean’s Avenue. Mrs Arthur Elworthy, Holme Station, is in Christchurch on a visit to her daughter, Mrs Derrick Gould, Queen’s Avenue, Fendalton. Mrs W. J. Hunter, Cashmere Hills, has returned home from a visit to Wellington, where she was the guest of Lady Gray. Mr and Mrs J. Cowie Wilson, of Christchurch, who have been spending a fortnight with relatives in Auckland, have returned home. Mrs Broadway and the Misses Joan, Roma and Wilma Broadway, Cashmere Hills, will return to Christchurch on Thursday morning after living for some years in London. A motion of sympathy with Mr W. J. Sim in the death of his mother was passed by the City Council last night. Mr Sim is an ex-councillor and a former chairman of a council committee. Nurse Maude gratefully acknowledges with thanks donations for “ those in need ” from an old lady. South Canterbury; quilt from Yaldhurst branch of Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. Mrs Donald M’Donald, Waimate, who has been spending a holiday in the North Island and in Christchurch, where she was the guest of Mrs S. Webb, Fendalton, for a few days, has returned home. Advice has been received from London that Miss Marjorie Breward has been awarded the Diploma of the Royal Life Saving Society. The practical part of this test was taken in the Municipal Bath three months ago the examiners being Miss Doreen Brown and Miss Olive Booth. The theoretical paper has to be sent to London to be marked by the Central Executive's Board of Examiners and this result has just come to hand. Miss Dorothy Leete, daughter of Mr and Mrs C. W. Leete, Cranford, Akaroa, who has been spending about fifteen months with her father’s relatives in the Midlands, England, will return to New Zealand by the Ormonde, sailing on December 9 and arriving at Sydney on January 17. Whilst Home Miss Leete spent several weeks in different parts of England, chiefly in the Southern Counties, also a fortnight in Scotland.
