Gatherings Held in Town and Country. GIFT PARTY AT PREBBLETON. Miss Stella Cherry, who is to be married this month, was the guest of honour at a gift party arranged by a number of her girl friends and held in the Parish Hall at Prebbleton on Thursday evening. Dancing, games and competitions were enjoyed. Songs were sung by Mrs Cyril Campion. Miss Als Jones and Miss Vera White and a pianoforte duet was played by Misses Doreen Smith and Edith Bennett Competitions were won by Mrs C. Atkinson, Mrs H. Riches. Miss Bertha Hartnell and Mr Russell Prebble. Mrs ; K. Hammond, Miss Poppy Hammond and Miss Joyce Kolkman supplied the music for the dancing. An enjoyable evening was spent at Haeremai, the heme of Mr and Mrs G. H. B. Lill, Willowby. when Mrs Lill. Mrs L. R. Stoddart. Mrs B. T. Clothier and Miss Dorothy Dollman entertained a number of friends at a social evening in honour of Miss Gertrude Stigley. who is to be married on Thursday. The evening was spent in games, competitions and music, items being contributed by Miss Dorothy Taylor, Miss Hazel Campbell and Mr J. Taylor. A competition was won by MisS Kathleen Stoddart. Mrs R. MacGregor expressed the wishes of the members of the Church Guilds for Miss Stigley’s future happiness. Miss Dorothy Dollman, on behalf of those present, asked the guest of honour to accept a set of crystal goblets and jug. Among those present were: Miss G. Stigley, Mr and Mis G. H. B. North Beach Scout Dance. Another of the popular dances arranged by the North Beach Scout and Rover troops was held in the Peace Memorial Hall on Saturday evening.
