RED REVOLUTION?
Second General Election to be Held. United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. MADRID, December 2. On the eve of the second general election, to be held to-morrow in sixteen districts for the return of 95 deputies because at the first election the top candidates failed to get 40 per cent of the total votes cast, the question is asked: Does Spain face Red revolution? The Socialists question the legality of the elections on the ground that they have been faked. Many of the inhabitants expect an outbreak at any moment and many women refuse to leave their homes. Police motor-cars with revolving machine-guns are in readiness. An official of the Government has declared a state of emergency equivalent to modified martial law in Barcelona city and province. Bomb-throw-ing and shooting occur daily among the warring political parties. A transport strike having developed, many of its leaders were arrested and their headquarters closed.
