SCOUTS AND GUIDES.

Big Rally Held at Kaiapoi. SPECTACULAR PAGEANT. Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, Wolf Cubs and Brownies from Rangiora, Kaiapoi, Amberley, Woodend and Oxford 150 strong assembled at the Kaiapoi Park on Saturday afternoon. Many people prominently connected with the Scout and Guide movement were present, the official party including Dr P. Clennell Fenwick. Dominion Chief Commissioner; Commissioner Mr W. H. Montgomery, Metropolitan Commissioner for Canterbury; Comm ssioner Eric Gray, Canterbury Country Commissioner; and Miss D. Anderson, Divisional Guide Commissioner for N< rth-west Canterbury. The proceedings commenced with a flag break and the National Anthem. Subsequently the company marched past the official party, Commissioner Gray taking the Scout salute, and Miss D. Anderson the Guides’ salute. The boys and girls then took up positions on the ground, where various displays were given. A pageant was presented by the Kaiapoi Girl Guides, folk dancing was carried out by the Rangiora Guides, and nursery rhymes were acted by the Brownies. The music for the dancing was provided by Mr R. F. Joyce’s radio gramophone. Sports events were held throughout the afternoon. After tea games were played and a campfire was lit at 7.30 p.m. when the certificates won by the competitors in the sports were presented by Commissioner Gray. The sports resulted as follows: Sconts.
