FEILDING CUP.

Acceptances Promise Good Racing To-morrow. form discussed. (Special to the “Star.”) M ELLINGTON, November 29. Excellent acceptances have been received for the opening day of the Feilding Jockey Club's spring meeting tomorrow. The weather continues fine, and it is probable that the track will be very fast. The Feilding course is a mile, less 48yds, round, with long sweeps on the turns, and a straight of about a furlong and a half. Spring form is now fairly well disclosed, and it should work out satisfactorily to-morrow. The only serious clash of form is in the Feilding Cup itself. The Feilding Stakes offer the only disappointing field. I he programme and prospects are:—

Excepting for Million, the more experienced division in the Waituna • Hurdles have not been in the winning list for some time, but Adventus and an uiri are a couple who have been winning fair races, and they appear to possess better class than Million. Adventus has an advantage of 31b in the weight over Manuiri as compared with the final day at Trentham last month, and this should help him. Ruanui has yet to open his hurdling account, but he will probably be produced fit enough. Mister Gamp may require a race or two. Tudor is a novice who has only to reproduce his Levin form to be hard to beat, and Air Laddie is also a prospect. A good trio may be Adventus, Tudor and Manuiri. 12.43 p.m. AORANGI TRIAL PLATE, of 80 sov»; six furlongs—Warehi, Maypay, laliurangi,. Courtega, All Supreme, Eka , el e » Grand Joy, Hint, Boudoir, Oalydcm, Lacktown, Raparahara, Wyndale, Spear Shot, Terangitumau, Inahrua! Hard Times, Aweketia, \\ idden, Weather Zane, Gray Coat. A lot will probably count with the draw and with luck in the despatch in the big field that promises to go to the barrier in the Aorangi Trial Plate, but, favoured in this respect, Courtega, Wyndale, Calydon and Awekeha are a quartette who should play a part in the finish. After her second to Pheon at Trentham last month at her only start yet, Courtega is likely to be in hot demand, but Wyndale is improving steadily', and the other pair mentioned have lots of pace. Maypay, Grand Joy, Raparahara, Te Rangitumau, and Ga y Coat are among others who have previously indicated some promise of an early maiden success. All Supreme is a six-year-old maiden with only one previous race for those who wish to remembers Lone Raider’s late win at Levin. There will be support for Courtega, Wyndale and Calydon.

An earlier analysis of the form in the rending Cup indicated the favourable handicapping of the Fordell pair, Plateau and \ iew Halloo, and if both •start the main problem for bettors will be to decide which might be the likeher here, as they will not be bracketed. View Halloo is well tried, but luck has always been against him at a middle distance. Plateau has already won at the distance, and is unbeaten m his last four starts. Among the others Fairway and Gibraltar make appeal as possibly most dangerous opponents for the Fordell pair, but Aga Khan and Korokio may also show to advantage, as they have good class with them. The chances of the rest cannot be scorned, but the book seems to point most sharply at Plateau or \ iew Halloo, Gibraltar and Fairway.

a very disappointing lot in the Feilding Stakes, and if Inflation goes to the post he and his bracketed mate, Inveresk, will probably be a warm-order favourite in what betting is done on the race. Inflation would win anywhere near right. He shared the honours in the race with Laughing Prince two years ago. Pomp, who will carry the same colours as last year’s 'u* nner reads easily best of the remaining trio. It looks'like Inflation, or in his absence, Pomp.

Ida Merling won so well first up for the season at Levin that her rehandicap should not stop her going near repeating the dose in the Kowhai Hack Handicap. On recent form the Carterton winner. Sangine King, would look a likely rival, but on this occasion he will not have the service of L. G. Morris, who will'be on the top-weight. Pango may in this circumstance be a more serious opponent, as he has won at his only two starts this season, and goes well when fi*esh. Hazoor, Gold Ruler and Royal Dash will be suited by the distance, and Ilazoor particularly looks not at all badly treated for a horse who has won three races an end. Good efforts may be anticipated from Ida Merling, Pango and Ilazoor.

The class performer in the Flying Handicap is, of course, Cadland, and he has no complaint to make about the weight he has, for it is only 21b less than he was awarded in the Stewards’. However, he failed to produce his right form at Trentham, and one must for the present accept a risk in holding to him. A better form pair are Slippery, and Equitant, with the former, a winner at Levin, appealing the more, as

he is very brilliant -when right. Among the others Farmer is liable to go well fresh, and a line to his prospects may be given by the running of Plateau in the Cup, as both horses belong to the same stable and race in the same colours. Sea Fox is a well-reputed hack who rcently ran second in the Great Northern Guineas. There will be backing for Slippery and Equitant.

Perhaps the most open issue of thg day is offered by the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, and, as in the Trial Plate earlier, draw luck in the despatch may be the deciding factors. Among the favourites will be the top-weight. Amvril, a fast beginner who beat all except the particularlv brilliant Bougha] at Te Rapa recently at her only start this term. The dual Waipa wa winner, Tiger Gain (who won at the meeting la=t year), the dual Riccarton second, Dollar Prince, and Land Tax (second to Ida Merling last Saturday) are all solid opponents, and Etiquette cannot be disregarded because she failed at Levin last Saturdav, as her real form is better than that. Others with chances are Acceptable. Catalogue, Pheon and Boon, but they will require to improve on their latest efforts. Arctic Region. Royal Passion and Vonia Park are recent maiden winners engaged. Form points to Amyril, Dollar Prince and Etiquette.

If Knollmere has retained his early spring form he will be one of the hardest to dispose of in the Kiwitea Handicap, but in Aiguille, Emotion and Speed he has three doughty rivals who should make him produce his best paces. Aiguille is fast approaching winning form, and Emotion proved at Riccarton that he is fit mettle for the best open class. Arrow Lad, Esteem and Grand Jury also possess chances on their latest showings, and if Amyril were reserved she might upset them all, as she is a hack possessed of more than ordinary brilliance. The final support may go mainly to Knollmere, Aiguille and Emotion. RACING FIXTURfA November 30, December 2—Feilding J C. Ftecember 1, 2—Winton Jockev Club. December 2—Ashburton Countv R.C.
