POLL NOT REQUIRED.
After having had ballot papers printed and preliminary arrangements made for taking a poll of the ratepayers on a proposal to raise a supplementary loan of £4OO for the completion of the new wharf at Waitangi, the Chatham Islands County Council has been advised by the Minister of Internal Affairs that it will not be necessary to take a poll. The Minister has stated that he will arrange for a clause to be included in the Local Legislation Act authorising the council to raise the money without a poll. It had been intended to take the poll this month and a polling place was to be provided in Christchurch for ratepayers of the Chatham Islands who are resident here.
