BREACH OF AWARD.

Former Lyttelton Butcher Fined. The Inspector of Factories proceeded against G. G. Bell, a butcher, formerly of Canterbury Street, Lyttelton, in the Magistrate’s Court, Lyttelton, for failing to pay award wages to T. Morrow. Morrow received £1 10s a week for two weeks, instead of £4 16s, less 10 per cent per week. It was pointed out that Bell, who was now out of the Lyttelton business, was badly off financially, and the inspector asked only for a nominal fine. After hearing the evidence, the Magistrate, Mr H. A. Young, inflicted a fine of 10s, with Is lid costs. Maintenance Case. John Joseph Duffy was proceeded against by Josephine Markham for the maintenance of support of his four children, at present under the care of Mrs Markham. She asked for an order for £1 a week, the arrears of £32 to be left over, pending more work being available on the waterfront. The order was granted
