TENNIS AT TIMARU.
Date of Annual Tourney Changed. (Special to the *• Star.”) TIMARU, November 21. A decision to begin the annual tournament on Christmas Dav instead of New Year’s Day as originally planned was arrived at by the tournament committee of the South Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association last evening. The New Zealand Association notified that a change of date would be approved, providing the consent of the North Otago Association was obtained. It was pointed out during the discussion that an alteration in the dates would be an inducement to outside players to play at Timaru and so secure practice for the New Zealand championships. The South Canterbury tournament will extend over three days.
