“GLAMOUR GONE.”
Thief and Girl Friend Quarrel. (Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, November 21. Clifford Edge Blake, twenty-nine years of age, was sent to gaol for three months, for theft and receiving sheets and pillow cases. The police said that accused, on June 3 at Christchurch, stole an overcoat valued at £8 8s from a dance hall. He afterwards cam* to Auckland, where he wore the coat. He also brought a dress suit which he had hired in artfother name. He was accompanied by a young woman. They quarrelled and Blake then went to live with another woman. She stole sheets and pillowcases, and Blake put them away. “ His misfortune seems to be that he picked up too many girls,” said counsel. “ After arriving with a girl from Christchurch, the glamour wore off. They quarrelled and she went to the police and told them about the overcoat and the dress suit.” The Magistrate (Mr Hunt); You know the saying about a woman scorned. (Laughter.) He’s a married man, yet he comes here with one woman and afterwards gets in tow with another.
